Plant Breeders Rights

Seed Co, through the marketing of varieties developed by Government, Seed Co or other associated breeders, is the undisputed leading Zimbabwean Seed Company. In order to ensure the company’s ongoing investment in research and seed production, in the best interest of Seed Co customers, varieties and hybrids have been protected under the Plant Breeders Right Act (Chap 18,16)

This Act prohibits unauthorised seed production or sales of such production as seed, and the use of protected varieties to produce a hybrid or different variety, except as provided by the Seed Act (Chap 19,13).

Seed Co has protected its germ plasm to ensure that our customers have unlimited access to the best genetics, both now, and in the future.
